When the challenges seem too great we take heart in the global reach of Rotary and know that by working together we can make a difference to the lives of people around the world.
Rotary Woy Woy supports the work of the Rotary Foundation that transforms our giving into grants for service projects across the globe. As an example, in 2018 the Rotary Foundation awarded US$86,677,399 in funding to 1,306 grants to help prevent disease, provide clean water, support education, grow local economies, save mothers and children and promote peace.
We also help many humanitarian projects registered through Rotary Australia World Community Service [RAWCS], including our Pure Joy Women Empowerment Uganda project. In the past, many of our members have volunteered on overseas projects and found the experience very rewarding.
Empowering women and girls in Uganda
Our current humanitarian aid project Pure Joy Women Empowerment Uganda provides vocational training in sewing, hairdressing and beauty to disadvantaged women, so they have a better chance of gaining employment and breaking the cycle of poverty. We also assist girls by providing them with reusable sanitary kits and healthcare education.
