Rotary recognises the positive change implemented by youth through leadership development activities, involvement in community and international service projects, and exchange programs that enrich and foster world peace and cultural understanding.

ROTARY WOY WOY is actively involved in sponsoring a number of Youth and young adult programs: Interact (Rotary for school students), MUNA (Model United Nations Assembly), RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) and RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment).

We chartered and sponsor the Interact Club at Brisbane Water Secondary College (BWSC), Umina Campus and provide sponsorship for teams to attend MUNA and the RYPEN summer and winter camps.

Local youth organisations have benefited from funds raised through our annual Opera in the Arboretum event. In 2016 PCYC Umina Beach and in 2017 Regional Youth Support Services was both chosen as main recipients.

In 2021 we provided school items to assist disadvantaged students entering high school and raised funds for Umina PCYC through a Book Fair. We supported three students to participate in RYPEN, held online due to the pandemic, and a team from our local high school to attend MUNA.

"Rotary kindled the spark within me to look beyond myself and embrace humanity. Service became a way of life for me and I, like many others, adopted the guiding philosophy that 'Service is the rent I pay for the space I occupy on this earth, and I want to be a good tenant of this earth.'"
Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta 2021-22
